Making an Effort

It seems to me that my son spends more time at the Clearwater Florida batting cages than he does at home. I am sure that he would sleep there if he could and everyone there knows him better than his father and I do. I am all for him loving the sport, but I honestly think that the obsession is getting out of hand.

His grades have been slipping, as all he does is eat, sleep and breathe baseball. When he came to us last week and asked if he could go to Tampa baseball camp, we used it as an opportunity to teach him that he had to be serious about other thing in his life, too. We told him that he could go to camp if he got his grades back up to where they should be and if he spent more time with the family.

I have to admit that he is doing a little bit better and I have actually seen him studying quite a bit. He tries to spend more time with us, though we can tell he would really rather be at the cages. I think we will register him for his baseball strength training Tampa camp, as he is definitely making the effort.
