Greek Social Networks are as Important as Gear for Greeks

Sororities have been an important part of college life for a long time. There are established traditions which help to honor that importance and to pass along the pride that members have in being part of this type of group. Each sorority has their own way of doing this. For example, some girls get together at the end of each year and purchase new sorority Greek Merchandise to give to the girls who will follow them. These symbols of pride and passed-along traditions are important to the group.
But this is the modern world and old traditions are not the only tools that sorority members use to keep everyone focused on the solidarity that the organization promotes. In today’s world, online social networking is as important as custom Greek clothing in showing the world how proud you are of being a member of your sorority. Every sorority and fraternity now has an online presence. To really commit to being a part of the group, you need to become an active member of these online communities and show the world your commitment.
In addition to joining the online communities that are specific to your house, you should list your membership on your other social networking sites. If you have a profile on MySpace or Facebook, it should reveal to the world that you are part of that group. After all, only the people in your community will see you wearing Gear for Greeks. If you pledge your commitment on the Internet, it’s there for the whole world to see.
