Distance Learning for Personal Trainers

I work at an athletic club as a certified personal trainer.  The club is very family-friendly, and my clients vary widely in age and background.  We’ve been getting more elderly people in the past few years; people are living longer now, and they want to stay healthy.  My own grandmother wants to start a more vigorous circuit training program.  I feel I need to know more about working with this age group to assess their fitness and work with them more effectively.

I’ve been looking for a distance learning program, and I think I’ve found one.  Not only do they have Master of Science Health Science Programs, they’ve also got a Doctor of Health Sciences Program and what’s more, a Human Movement Online program with different specialty tracks, including one called Geriatric Exercise Science.  So I called them up to ask about it, and their admissions office confirmed that it would be suitable for a certified fitness trainer like me, as well as other health practitioners.  The people in the office were friendly and helpful; they gave me contact information for some of the instructors to get more detail about specific courses.  After talking with a few of them, I’m planning on signing up soon.
