Choosing Credit Cards Wisely
Posted by Professor on 01/9/08 in Finance
Credit cards (tarjetas de credito) can be the make or break of anyone’s credit rating. If you choose to use your credit card responsibly, then it can single-handedly improve your credit rating. But if you neglect your payments or charge too much to your card, you will certainly tarnish your rating. There are also other things to be concerned about when it comes to credit, especially with a free credit card (tarjeta de credito gratis). It is important to note that the term ‘free’ is quite loose in this sense. If you are investigating such an offer, always ensure to check the interest rate that comes along with the credit card.
Many credit card companies will try to recover the money they lose from offering the card for free by charging higher interest rates. If you already have a credit card that you like, one way to ensure that you stay in good standing is to have the money taken directly from your bank accounts (cuentas bancarias). This will ensure that you never forget a payment and will keep your credit rating in check. If you don’t already have one, you will of course need to open bank accounts for this to work.

A very valid point here. It’s important to check the terms and conditions before signing up to any financial product like credit cards.
